avatar summer re-release with extra scenes debated

Saturday, March 13th, 2010

according to boxoffice.com fox and james cameron are debating re-releasing avatar this summer. although avatar lost a lot of theatres due to the 3-d release of alice in wonderland, the movie still managed to take the number 3 spot on thursday.

we think this is a good idea especially if more scenes are added. all the fanboys will flip.

james cameron is all about setting the tone for hollywood. after the success of titanic, everyone scrambled looking for the next leonardo dicaprio. for 12 years while james cameron was away filming underwater documentaries movie-viewing audiences were mercilessly visually assualted by guys who looked like prepubscent boys (tobey maguire anyone?) and not like men. girlie men who looked like they got their chests waxed daily and visited the facilist once-a-week.

is it any wonder than cameron declined to put the likes of jake gyllenhaal and matt damon in avatar? but it’s kinda sad that he had to venture beyond north america and europe to the otherside of the planet (you know the place that’s summer in winter) to find a man like sam worhtington –you know, a guy who looks like a man and not like david beckham.

the end of girlie men

Saturday, January 23rd, 2010

here’s the thing. james cameron creates trends. like his using arnold schwarzennegger in the terminator in the early 80s ushered in the whole he-man action hero thing. and then his using leonardo dicaprio in titanic ushered in the era of the girlie men.

because filmmakers (most) are unoriginal in their thinking (jason reitman), are not visionaries (tarantino) and are just followers (happy to have a job). and so he’s the only one really whose got the power to decide, i don’t want any stars in my film, i want to create one. and then everyone else follows with similar looking guys. or the same guy.

and avatar killed spiderman. no matter what anyone thinks. which is why it will be a teen movie. because after such a visually perfect effects laden film, spiderman and those type of films look like g.i. joes playing with barbie in a playhouse. teenage girls are less demanding (see twilight).

james cameron talks about controversial themes in avatar

Tuesday, January 19th, 2010

here’s the video version of the backstage interview

james cameron addresses accusation avatar anti-military

Monday, January 18th, 2010

james cameron directly addressed some of the ‘controversy’ surrounding his science fiction thriller. although no press guy had the balls to ask him about the so-called racist undertones. which we here feel are non-existent. he did address the accusation that his film is anti-military. the link shows a video of james cameron with some of his cast in the backstage area of the golden globes.

but the big question is. where was sam worthington for the today show interview. the whole avatar cast (well, nearly) turned up for their early morning interview but worthington was no where to be seen. drunk as a sunk? or did he oversleep?

entertainment weekly's love affair with twilight is over

Sunday, January 17th, 2010

after months and months of cover stories and innner articles about everything twilight, entertainment weekly has gone blue. it’s deep into avatar these days. wonder if sci-fi fans care enough to pick it up.

the genius of james cameron and avatar

Thursday, January 14th, 2010

the genius of james cameron is that:

1.) he killed off all the ‘name’ stars in avatar (sigourney weaver, michelle rodriguez)

2.) he turned sam worthington, his leading man into a blue alien

3.) and his female lead, motion capture acted by zoe saldana is also a blue alien

so now, no actor can interfer with his making sequels (hold up and hold out for loads of money). he could recast his 2 leads and nobody would even notice.
