50,000 commercials and 605 million dollars

Tuesday, October 21st, 2008

according to the new york daily news, citing the campaign media analysis group, last week the barack obama campaign broadcast 50,000 30 second commercials on national, local and cable TV channels. counting his primary run, obama has thus far raised $605m. some might call this a perversion of democracy. in most first world countries, there are strict regulations which would prohibit dominating the airwaves in such a way. but obama is in america, so he doesn’t have to worry about this.

but how much traction is he gaining. at the moment he is 4 or 5 points up.

  1. Wouldn’t it be nice if that money was used to support our economy or help the poor?

Unfortunately, it will only go to the major networks and put more food on the tables of over-stuffed CEO’s.
