last night the swedish film institute celebrated its 50th anniversary with an afternoon reception and an evening party on the 6th day of the cannes film festival. there was a lot of amazing food and dancing. it was perhaps the best event of the entire festival.
anna serner, ceo of the swedish film institute took this opportunity to announce a directive that will equally divide funding for projects directed by women and by men. she pointed to statistics which prove that female directors tend to make 1 film and then vanish. and pointed out that perhaps it is because women find it more challenging to raise money for their projects than men.
