tom hardy the next movie star

Saturday, August 25th, 2012

is tom hardy the next movie star. while his turn as bane in ‘the dark knight rises’ was better in the trailer than in the actual film. he did have his moments. but unfortunately the filmmakers sold the character out in the last 30 minutes in the film.

while the film ‘lawless’ will be a wash for hardy, it’s clear that
mad max’ will attract a lot of attention. perhaps ‘this means war’ was an indication of what hardy has to offer. a lot of promise but perhaps not the chops to sustain an entire film.

lars von trier speaks about melancholia

Saturday, September 3rd, 2011

lars von trier’s latest film Melancholia premiered yesterday in germany at the babylon theatre in berlin. the new film which features kirstin dunst, charlotte gainsbourg (looking more and more like her father) and kiefer sutherland is an end-of-the world science fiction drama that tracks the planet melancholia which is on a crash course to earth. the film also features alexander skarsgård (true blood) and his father stellan skarsgård who plays alexander’s father in the film. oh so self-referential.

lars von trier who we all know is afraid to fly, appears at a Q&A in berlin. which probably means he’s not afraid to drive or use trains.

tron sneak preview disney 3-d disappointing

Thursday, October 28th, 2010

this film just looks like a 3-d transfer. and the film is far too dark to take full advantage of this technology. the gladiator fight scene was almost effective. and the art direction is quite good. but me thinks the 3-d bit is just to try grab the gold from the higher ticket prices.
