lars von trier’s latest film Melancholia premiered yesterday in germany at the babylon theatre in berlin. the new film which features kirstin dunst, charlotte gainsbourg (looking more and more like her father) and kiefer sutherland is an end-of-the world science fiction drama that tracks the planet melancholia which is on a crash course to earth. the film also features alexander skarsgård (true blood) and his father stellan skarsgård who plays alexander’s father in the film. oh so self-referential.
lars von trier who we all know is afraid to fly, appears at a Q&A in berlin. which probably means he’s not afraid to drive or use trains.
if you compare the video on the daily telegraph’s website to the one on the guardian newspaper’s website, you will see that it’s really easy to make anyone look like an asshole. the guardian newspaper‘s video is a bit more nuanced in that it shows the entire context of lars von trier’s faux pas that has made him persona non grata while the telegraph starts in medias res.
