according to reuters, steven jobs went crazy on a conference call to investors. the ipad, which we’ve noted here before, which does not support flash–currently the industry standard for web video delivery, and which does not have a USB port, is seeing stiff competition. jobs has countered that his competitor’s tablets are too small.
research in motion, the canada based company, unveiled its tablet for business schmoos last month. yes, it’s far smaller than the iPad. and presumably works in direct sunlight.
according to an article in th wall street journal, the federal trade commission in the united states is set to review the business practices of apple.
steven jobs, who famously dissed adobe recently and has locked flash out of its iPhones and to add insult to injury, won’t allow application developers to create apps for its products using flash technology. and apparently other companies also have grievances with the firm.
as documented in numerous books, steve jobs suffers from what bill gates suffered from, hubris. and if it weren’t for the the bush administration winning the 2000 election, microsoft would’ve been broken up into micro-bytes.
here’s shakespeare has to say about hubris:
I have no spur
To prick the sides of my intent, but only
Vaulting ambition, which o’erleaps itself,
And falls on th’other.
neither the ipad nor the iphone run flash. what’s up with steven jobs (the man who only owns black turtle necks), has someone at adobe pissed him off? the great thing about flash, in tech geek speak, is that flash gives you greater control over the file size of a website or a video. flash websites totally suck. but for video based sites like most news sites we look at, flash keeps users from having to sit for frickin’ ever waiting for stuff to load.
